    Recognizing Excellence in Golf Media

The Lorne Rubenstein Award is presented annually to an individual who has been associated with a recognized Ontario media organization for “major contributions to golf in Ontario.” Lorne Rubenstein, one of Canada’s best golf journalists and authors, is a member of the Ontario and Canadian Golf Halls of Fame and received the Canadian Sports Media Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009.

A Hall of Fame media research team (5 people) headed by the Media representative on the Hall of Fame Selection Committee will submit a list of up to 5 eligible candidates (including short bios) each September to the Selection Committee for review at their October meeting.

The HOF Selection Committee will select the Award recipient based on the submitted list and the winner will be announced along with the Hall of Fame Induction Class in December.

Candidate selection is based on the following criteria: longevity in media; past honors and awards, including special assignments; and recognition by readers/listeners/viewers. To be considered, an active or retired member of the Ontario media must have a minimum of 10 years of continuous service.

The Lorne Rubenstein Award will be presented annually at the Ontario Golf Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Each award recipient (not to be confused with an inductee) is presented with an award and is recognized on the Lorne Rubenstein Award plaque in the Ontario Golf Hall of Fame.

Recipients of the Lorne Rubenstein Award still remain eligible for induction into the Hall of Fame. However, current members of the Hall of Fame would not be eligible to receive the Lorne Rubenstein Award.
