2012 Membership Categories
Private Club: Defined as having ‘members’ (see definition below) and do not allow green fee play. The minimum number for a 9-hole facility is 40 adult members and the minimum number for an 18-hole facility is 60 adult members. All GAO membership cards are issued through the club. ‘Members’ are: individuals who purchase a season pass, a yearly pass, a shareholder at the club, a corporate member, a member of the men/women/seniors Sections, a full-member, and anyone else who is not a casual greens fee player or public golfer.
Semi-Private Club: Defined as having ‘members’ (see definition above) in addition to allowing green fee play. The minimum number for a 9-hole facility is 40 adult members and the minimum number for an 18-hole facility is 60 adult members. All GAO membership cards are issued through the club. Public Course: Defined as a golf operation that only allows green fee play. Membership cards are not issued for this category. (Click here for Application Form)
Golf Group: “Golf Group” means a group that has been formed by at least 15 individuals who are not members of a Golf Club. A Golf Group does not own, lease, manage, operate or control a golf course. It operates under by-laws with an individual or committee appointed to supervise golf activities and maintain the integrity of the handicap system.The Golf Group must establish the appropriate committees and otherwise meet all criteria set out in the By-law for Member Clubs. Public Player Program: A program designed by the GAO to satisfy the needs of players who are not members of the above membership categories. "Public Player" means a golfer in Ontario who pays membership dues to the Association but is not a member of a Golf Club or a Golf Group. (Click here to register)
Membership Fees (HST will be added to all fees)
Adults = $25.00 (GAO $15 + Golf Canada $10)
Juniors = $15.50 (18 or younger as of August 3, 2012) (GAO $10 + Golf Canada $5.50)
Handicap Service Fee – add $3.50 for adults, $2.00 for juniors. (Click here for Handicap Service Information Package)
Public Facilities:
9 Holes = $900.00
18 Holes = $1400.00
Public Players = $28.50 + HST = $32.21
