Uxbridge, ON: - The Golf Association of Ontario (GAO) announced today the three nominees to receive funding from the Quest for Gold – Ontario Athlete Assistance Program (OAAP). Funded by the Government of Ontario through the Ministry of Health Promotion (MHP), the program will provide direct financial assistance to Ontario athletes through an “Ontario Card” designation.

Kristy McLaughlin of Wasaga Beach and Jace Walker of St. Thomas will all receive funding through the OAAP. The intent of the OAAP is to provide funding to individual athletes based on their demonstrated commitment to high performance sport, allowing them to pursue athletic excellence at the highest levels of national and international competition.

Walker and McLaughlin both received ‘Next Generation’ nominations for their performances in 2007. McLaughlin finished second in the 2007 Investors Group Ontario Women’s Amateur and third in the Ontario Women’s Match Play Championship. Walker finished in a tie for fifth at the 2007 Investors Group Ontario Men’s Amateur.
