Overseas Success for Senior Ladies

Ontario’s Jackie Rosart finished tied for third at the 2004 Senior Ladies' British Championship, September 23rd, at Portstewart Golf Club in Northern Ireland. Rosart of Burlington Golf Club, finished only five shots behind the winner, Sweden's Eva Ansgarius. Ansgarius played steady golf with rounds of 83, 83 & 80 to win the Championship. Ruth Lindley from Hartlepool finished two shots behind; both winner and runner up were granted an exemption to this year's US Senior Women's Open. Other Ontario women competing in the Championship included Jeanne Beaith, Jean Boynton, Jane Moffat, Joanne Saunders, Carolyn Smith, and Susan Wickware.

Meanwhile, Alison Murdock of Victoria, BC captured the Pennys Irish Senior Strokeplay Championship by two shots at Seapoint Golf Club near Dublin, Ireland. A contingent of some 15 Canadian women participated in these two Events, which in past years had been won by Ontario's Marlene Stewart Streit, who will soon be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
