Ontario selects 7 different Interprovincial
Team Ontario squads each golf season. Each Provincial GAO Championship serves as the sole qualifier for
selecting the Interprovincial Team Ontario that will represent Ontario in the various RCGA National
Championship Interprovincial Team Championships. Players must be members in good standing of the GAO and be
residents of Ontario in order to eligible for Interprovincial Team Ontario. The Team Selection Committee
reserves the right to amend the selection process at any time during or following the individual GAO
Provincial Championship.
The following are the teams that will be selected by the GAO in the 2010 golf season as well as the date and
venue for the GAO Championship that will serve as the qualifier for the particular team selection:
The Ontario Junior Girl’s Interprovincial Team Ontario will be comprised of the top 4 finishers at the Investors Group Ontario Junior and Juvenile Girl’s Championship, July 6-8 at Rivendell Golf Club in Verona, Ontario. Players will qualify regardless of age, provided all other eligibility requirements are met. This team will represent Ontario in the Interprovincial Team Championship at the Royale Cup Canadian Junior Girls Championship August 2-6 at Sawmill Creek Golf Resort in Camlachie, Ontario. Ontario has won this team title 24 times since the team competition began in 1953.
The Ontario Junior Girl’s Interprovincial Team Ontario will be comprised of the top 4 finishers after 72 holes of stroke play competition at the Investors Group Ontario Junior and Juvenile Boy’s Championship, July 20-23 at Listowell Golf Club in Listowell, Ontario. Players will qualify regardless of age, provided all other eligibility requirements are met. This team will represent Ontario in the Interprovincial Team Championship at the Canadian Junior Boys Championship August 2-6 at Richmond Country Club in Richmond, British Columbia. Ontario has won this team title 17 times since the competition began in 1959.
The 2010 Ontario Women’s Interprovincial Team Ontario will be comprised of the top 4 finishers after 54-holes of stroke play competition (regardless of age) at the Investors Group Women’s Amateur Championship, July 13-15 at OslerBrook Golf and Country Club in Collingwood, Ontario. This team will represent Ontario in the Interprovincial Team Championship at the Royale Cup Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship July 26-30 at Kingsville Golf and Country Club in Kingsville, Ontario. Ontario has won this team title 34 times since the team competition began in 1947.
Ontario's 2010 Willingdon Cup Team will be comprised of the top 4 finishers (regardless of age) after 72 holes of stroke play competition at the 2010 Investors Group Amateur Championship, July 6-9 at Idylwylde Golf and Country Club in Sudbury, Ontario. This team will represent Ontario in the Interprovincial Team Championship at the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship August 10-15 at London Hunt/Redtail Golf Club in London, Ontario. Ontario has won this team title 29 times since the team competition began in 1927.
The 2010 Men’s Mid-Amateur Interprovincial Team Ontario will consist of the top two (2) 2010 Ontario Men’s Mid Master Championship finishers (age 40 and over) and the top two (2) 2010 Ontario Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship finishers (age 25 and over) after 54 holes of stroke play competition at the Investor’s Group Men’s Mid Amateur Championship, June 8-10 at The Donalda Club in North York, Ontario. This team will represent Ontario in the Interprovincial Team Championship at the Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship August 16-20 at the Royal Ottawa Golf Club in Ottawa, Ontario. Ontario has won this team title 6 times since the team competition began in 1992.
The 2010 Senior Women’s Interprovincial Team Ontario will be comprised of the top 4 finishers after 54-holes of stroke play competition at the Investor Group Senior Women’s Amateur Championship, August 4-6 at the Club at North Halton in Georgetown, Ontario. This team will represent Ontario in the Interprovincial Team Championship at the Royale Cup Canadian Senior Women’s Amateur Championship August 23-26 at Morningstar Golf Course in Parksville, British Columbia. Ontario has won this team title 19 times since the team competition began in 1971.
The 2010 Senior Men’s Interprovincial Team Ontario will be comprised of the top 4 finishers after 54-holes of stroke play competition at the Investor Group Senior Men’s Amateur Championship, August 11-13 at Ambassador Golf CLub in Windsor, Ontario. This team will represent Ontario in the Interprovincial Team Championship at the Canadian Men’s Senior Amateur Championship August 30-September 3 at St. Thomas Golf and Country Club in St. Thomas, Ontario. Ontario has won this team title 21 times since the team competition began in 1962.
