2009 marks the first year that golf is included in the Canada Summer Games. First contested in 1969, the Games are a multi-sport and cultural event that brings together the best athletes and artists age eighteen and younger from each Canadian province and territory.
Taking place at Brudenell River Golf Course, the golf component of the games features both an individual championship and a team championship. The format is a 72 stroke play format for the individual competition, and the first 54 holes also count towards the team championship, with the best 2 out of 3 scores counting for the team score each day. Team Ontario consists of three girls and three boys.
