Volunteer Screening

GAO Screening Process

Screening of staff, coaches and volunteers is an important part of providing a safe environment for participation in all programs and services provided to juniors.  The GAO is responsible, at law, to do everything reasonable to provide a safe and secure environment for participants in its programs, activities and events.  Further, the GAO is responsible to its members to provide adequate screening of individuals acting in a fiduciary position within the organization to protect the assets of the organization and ensure proper management of the affairs of the Association.

The purpose of screening is to identify individuals within the GAO who pose a risk to children or youth or to the financial well being of the Golf Association of Ontario.

Police Records Check

Certain GAO volunteer roles require background screening. Those volunteers will be notified if they require a police records check through Hire Performance, a Canadian owned and operated background screening company. Hire Performance have created a quick and convenient way for members of the Golf Association of Ontario to complete criminal and vulnerable sector record checks.
