Holly Goncalves of London captured the Junior Girls Match Play title by defeating Patti Hogeboom of Glenburnie
Thornhill, Ontario: 16-year-old Goncalves defeated Jodie Switzer in their first round match and then outlasted Adrianna DiLonardo in yesterday's quarterfinals. The Foresty City National Golf Club member met Anita Gahir of Thornhill in the semis and defeated her to set up the match with Hogeboom.
16 women advanced to the championship based on their performances at the recently completed Ontario Junior Girls Amateur Championships. The first round and the quarterfinals were contested yesterday and the semifinals and final matches were determined today.
16-year-old Goncalves defeated Jodie Switzer in their first round match and then outlasted Adrianna DiLonardo in yesterday's quarterfinals. The Foresty City National Golf Club member met Anita Gahir of Thornhill in the semis and defeated her to set up the match with Hogeboom.
Megan Chapman of Collingwood captured the Consolation Prize on the Junior Girls side while Ivy Steinberg of Newmarket managed to win the rest of her matches after dropping a hard-fought battle with Terril Samuel in the opening round.
The Golf Association of Ontario is the governing body for amateur golf in the province and mandates policies on behalf of over 500 member clubs and 100,000 individual members. The GAO conducts provincial championships, camps, clinics and seminars.
