Budd Takes Ontario Bantam Boys' Championship

Cambridge, ON: Russell Budd of Bayview CC held onto his lead from start to finish to win the Ontario Bantam Boys' Championship by two strokes today at Puslinch Lake Golf Course in Cambridge, Ontario. Budd wavered early with a two over par front nine, but stormed back to win with two birdies on the back for a final day score of 71 to close out the tournament. The win qualifies Budd for a spot on the Ontario Cup team, to be played September 1-2, 2004. Budd held off a number of hard charging players, including three players that tied for second, Nick Halliday of Chippewa Creek G&CC, Ben Turnbull of Brantford G&CC and Mackenzie Hughes of Dundas Valley G&CC. Halliday also qualifies for the Ontario Cup team. 4 others came in tied for fifth at +4.
