The 2004 Investors Group Ontario Ladies' Amateur Championship marks the 89th time that the provinces best female golfers have gathered to contest amateur golf supremacy in Ontario. Investors Group, a leader in financial services througout Canada, joined the GAO as Title Sponsor of the Amateur in 2002.
The Ontario Amateur Championship was cancelled during WWI (1915-20) and WWI (1940-45).

On the strength of Marlene Streit's 11 Amateur victories, Lookout Point Country Club has the largest representation of Champions in the history of the Amateur with 15. The Toronto Golf Club is next at 12 with Hamilton Golf & Country Club and The Ladies Golf Club of Toronto tied at 11.
Ada Mackenzie captured her fiirst Ontario Amateur Championship in 1922; her last victory would come 28 years later in 1950. Mackenzie was victorious eight times at the Ontario Amateur.
Florence Harvey of Hamilton, who Co-Founded the Canadian Ladies' Golf Union (Association) won four Ontario Amateur Championships (1904, 1906, 1913-14).
Gayle Borthwick is the only Canadian golfer to have won all four National Amateur Championships. These include: Junior (1961), Amateur (1962), Mid-Amateur (1992), Senior (1994-95)

Frances Scott Gibson later Frances Scott Ferrie reached the final of the Ontario Amateur six times between 1921 and 1927, winning in 1921, 1924 and 1925.
Curent LPGA Tour Pro and Burlington native, Barb Bunkowsky captured the 1981 Amateur Championship at the Hamilton G&CC.
Marlene Streit and Georgetown resident Mary Ann Lapointe are the only two golfers to have won the Amateur in three consecutive years. Marlene accomplished the feat twice (1956-58 and 1968-70). Mary Ann won three-in-a-row from 1995-97.
Sandra Post captured the Ontario Amateur at age 16; she turned Professional by 19 and went on to win nine times on the LPGA Tour.
